25+ years building and modernizing enterprise IT in higher education and the public sector. Most of my work lives in AWS cloud platforms, cybersecurity compliance, ITSM, and practical AI governance.
About
I lead higher education IT teams across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, service management, endpoint management, and day-to-day technology operations. The work has to be reliable, and it has to make sense to the people using it. I've spent 25+ years in public-sector and California State University environments, starting with hands-on endpoint and systems work and ending up in director-level leadership of multi-campus organizations.
I am Director of User Support and Endpoint Management for the San Francisco Bay Regional Network, covering three CSU campuses (San Francisco State, Cal State East Bay, and Sonoma State), and additionally serve as Interim Director of Systems and Cloud Services. That means an $8M annual operating budget, 54 staff plus 30 student employees, roughly 40,000 students and 5,000 faculty and staff, and around 4,000 service tickets every month. Since the regional network formed, attrition of management and staff has delivered over $2M in savings while we maintained service delivery across all three campuses — doing more with less. That includes $800K in annual run-rate savings through shared-services consolidation, alongside an enterprise endpoint management rollout with Microsoft Intune and Jamf.
The through line in my career is practical modernization. I want services people can actually find and use, less institutional risk, and technology decisions that trace back to what the organization is trying to do. I manage as a servant leader, I lean on data when I have it, and I use AI where it takes real work off my team's plate rather than because it's fashionable.
